Comments:
- Plan on making a better TMNT render in the forthcoming days, but I just wanted to get the ball rolling and see the characters in action. I love it, even though this one was fairly simple to make.

Young Justice: Invasion - Darkest review

Photobucket

Young Justice: Invasion
Darkest

  Shit just got real.

It would have been difficult enough as it was to match the previous episode in quality, but "Darkest" managed to stay on the same level, whilst using a whole different angle. Whereas "Satisfaction" was all about character development, with minor progression in the story, "Darkest" changes that around and gives us a story element that changes the entire dynamic of the show.

The minor parts of the episode are found in developing the relationship between a few characters. Plus, giving more insight in the character of Bart Allen and the future he came from. And some insight in the relationship between Jaime Reyes and his superfantastic suit. As is usual, these parts are well done and don't intrude on the overall story, due to the fact that they are a part of the story or they're placed in such a manner that you honestly don't mind.
Of course, the bigger picture is where it counts. Apparently, Aqualad isn't quite yet trusted by the people he works with. You'd think the whole Artemis situation would have cleared him from suspicion. But, here we are. Now, Aqualad is being forced to use the information he has on The Team in order to get in for the realz and earn the respect needed to be introduced to The Light and their mysterious partner.

  Ahem, SPOOOOIIIIILLLLLEEEEEEERRRRSSSSS.

Aqualad was tasked to bring in some of his old friends. Only, not quite so like he did with Lagoon Boy. You see, he has to go and pick them up from Mount Justice, all the while also having to blow it up in the end. This entire plotline is beautifully dark for a show like this.
However, all is not as it seems. Aqualad isn't exactly tripplecrossing his teammates here. He used the entire invasion of their homes as a way to get crucial information to Nightwing, so that he and his team might be able to infiltrate the enemy base and save Lagoon Boy. And the three teammembers caught by him in the end.
Though, Aqualad's loyalty towards the good fight is kinda questioned after he blew up Mount Justice, another way to really, really, really raise the stakes. Kid Flash isn't exactly fond of the way that everything turned out, as Aqualad might have actually killed people there. Luckily, that wasn't the case. Still, these events change everything in such a way that makes me incredibly curious as to see what's coming next.

  SPOILERS END HERE, YO.

All in all, another fantastic episode in the series. The animation was smooth, the voice acting was superb, the script was good and the story itself is simply amazing. If you weren't a fan of the second season by now, then by god you will be now.

  9/10
