tHop - The Bourne Legacy

The legacy of Jason Bourne has been mishandled, if you ask me. The movies, whilst good movies in their own right, failed to bring the books to the screen. It missed everything that made the books as memorable as they are today.
That is, the original book trilogy. The Eric Van Lustbader novels proved to be cash-ins on the original trilogy. Whilst The Bourne Legacy novel did prove to be a winner, the rest weren't really all that great. You could tell that Van Lustbader had no interest in writing Jason Bourne. He got rid of everything iconic about the character, from his two best friends to his wife and his kids and even David Webb. There was only Jason Bourne, now a cheap James Bond knock-off.

Enter the movie. And, oh boy, does it do EVERYTHING right! Jason Bourne is somewhat out of the picture, as we instead focus on a brand new character. It changes up absolutely everything, and it does a dang good job of it too. At least, judging by the trailers. This has me absolutely pumped, as it looks like it's taking what was good about the previous movies and it amps it up to eleven. Just look at this trailer! LOOK AT IT! This is going to be a Bourne movie at its finest.
I mean, there literally is nothing to trample on here. All that it has in common with Van Lustbader's book is the title. For the rest, literally everything is new. Albeit it's taking place during The Bourne Ultimatum. But, that's besides the point. This movie is exactly what Van Lustbader should have done. Sure, giving Bourne one last hoorah was a noble effort and he did well enough. But, after that, this is the direction he should have taken.
