tHop - The Bourne Legacy

When it comes to adaptations, The Bourne series proves that they not always have to suck cheese. The problem, though, is that the Bourne movie franchise stopped being adaptations with the first movie. That one ended in such a way that it required a complete department from the books. Which still irks me to this very day. The books were pure, unquestionable genius ... and the movie franchise was a serious step backwards. Though, still quite enjoyable to watch.

With The Bourne Legacy, we find ourselves in unfamiliar territory. The book was written by Erik Van Lustbader, who took over the franchise once written by Robert Ludlum. He continued on the book's lore, but mixed in elements of the movie franchise. Most notably ... Bourne isn't over 70 years old.
Now we have the movie, that takes the franchise in an even more drastic different direction. Bourne isn't in this one.

"The narrative architect behind the Bourne film series, Tony Gilroy, takes the helm in the next chapter of the hugely popular espionage franchise that has earned almost $1 billion at the global box office: The Bourne Legacy. The writer/director expands the Bourne universe created by Robert Ludlum with an original story that introduces us to a new hero (Jeremy Renner) whose life-or-death stakes have been triggered by the events of the first three films. For The Bourne Legacy, Renner joins fellow series newcomers Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Stacy Keach and Oscar Isaac, while franchise veterans Albert Finney, Joan Allen, David Strathairn and Scott Glenn reprise their roles." - Apple Trailers Synopsis

Now here we have a direction to the franchise I 100% support. Though the story of the book was all but bad, I still say that this is for the best. A completely new character is just what we need in this world. We needed a Jason Bourne who wasn't David Webb. His story was told. The book of which this movie borrowed from pretty much took the last pieces of story that were left, which shows tremendously in the following books. So, I'm glad they decided to go with a new character.
And the actors! My god! Jeremy Renner, Eduard Norton, Rachel Weis, Stacy Keach. This alongside previous cast members. This is going to be absolutely glorious. From the trailer we can see the action is going to be superb as well.

Guys, the ball is now in your court. Now, toss us the ball and nail the landing. Or I will break you.
