tHop - Amazing Spider-Man

Photobucket

Sam Raimi did a spectacular job with the first series of Spider-Man movies. If it wasn't for the third movie, then we'd definitely see a fourth one being helmed by him. Unfortunately, the third one was a bust. Mainly due to studio interference.
In his place we get Marc Webb, who is using a James Vanderbilt written screenplay to bring us a reboot of the franchise.

Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) is back in high school, with an Uncle Ben (Martin Sheen) that's alive and kicking and a love interest more in tune with the comics, Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone). Whilst Raimi's origins story focused on The Green Goblin, this time we have another green meanie, The Lizard. Sad to see the part of doctor Connors (Rhys Ifans) go to another actor, but we'll see where he can take him.

"Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy, and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors, his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero." ~ Nicky Mitchell

The trailer itself managed to seriously impress me. Peter Parker and Spider-Man are more different. Whilst Peter Parker is more of a pent up teenager because of years of being bullied, Spider-Man brings out his more witty and bad-ass nature. Which is another thing ... SPIDER-MAN IS WITTY IN THIS MOVIE. I'm sorry, Raimi, but I have to give this movie more credit than yours for now. But, we won't know until we've seen it.
The action as seen in the trailer managed to impress me the most out of everything. Spider-man has more of a parcours feel to him, which matches the character perfectly. It's how I always imagined a movie version to be. Swinging could bring nothing new to the table, but if they include the Mirror's Edge scene from the first trailer, I won't complain.

Two final notes:

1) WTF is up with the untold story BS. I highly doubt it'll be untold.

2) If they bring back Peter's parents in the present, it better be the same as in the comics. GOOFYNESS ENSUES.

  1. Unfortunately, I have a feeling this untold story might be... the indie director's... untold story... if you know what I mean....

    BUT THE MOVIE LOOKS GREAT!
