tHop -The Three Musketeers in 3D

Photobucket

The Three Musketeers finds it origins in a novel by Alexandre Dumas called Les Trois Mousquetaires, which can be translated to the already familiar title. The book was first serialized in the year 1844, making this tale a classic.
Over the years, we have gotten to behold many adaptations that all have made a mark on the industry in one way or the other. Earliest known film is The Three Musketeers, a french movie made in the year 1903. Since then there have been numerous movies, animated movies and even sequels. Many of them were as effective as a Magikarp's splash, but there were a golden few that left a mark, like the 1993 Disney adaptation starring Keifer Sutherland, Charlie Sheen, Oliver Platt, Chris O'Donnell and the greatest talent in the movie: Tim Curry.
Since it has been ten years since the last adaptation, I'd say we're about good for another crack at it. This time around it's by one of the most infamous directors of this generation: Paul W.S. Anderson. The man is mostly known for such dreck as the Resident Evil movies, Aliens versus Predators, Mortal Kombat and Dead or Alive. I'd say his only redeeming movies are Soldier (debatably) and the Death Race movies. (Of which the sequel is by far the best movie he has ever worked with, even if he was only the writer on that one.)

No point in discussing the story at this point, so let's just discuss the trailer. Oh god, the trailer. It's an interesting take on the franchise, I'll give him that, but my god. Did he really try to copy paste Resident Evil Afterlife here and set it in the 17th century? Because he did a dang good job. Meaning this movie can still go two ways. Because he didn't write this movie, there's still good chance that the story will be somewhat resembling competence and the action will be fun and mindless. If I had to describe the action in two words then it has to be: Wild Wild West. (Fuck you, I only used two words.Wild and West.) This could be like an unofficial Wild Wild West sequel set in France. And ... I kinda dig it.
Yeah, I'm willing to give this movie a chance. The director and the Resident Evil Afterlife aftertaste of the trailer are working against it, but this really has a lot of promise to it.
