Mass Effect 2 PS3
Imagine my surprise when I open up Echofon only to find out that Geoff Keighley tweeted the following statement:
“Mass Effect 2 coming to PS3 in January 2011.”
Following this statement I immediately started looking for an article on the web that would verify that statement. And indeed, it didn’t take me long to find an article from a trustworthy source that verified just that. Mass Effect 2 was coming to the Playstation 3 in Januari of 2011.
Obviously I was jumping up and down like a raging moron, drooling over the fact that I was going to be able to play the one game that I have been waiting for since I first heard of the franchise. A space opera RPG loaded with action and a brilliant story.
There’s a few things that are yet to be verified but if it is a straight port … Well, let’s start at the beginning. Namely Mass Effect. The first game offered many story points where the player was given the option to chose how an event would occur. Basically the game asked if you wanted to go left or right, resulting in a very different gameplay experience if you change it up each time. Which also means that there was no real set cannon for the story. In Mass Effect 2 they fixed this by creating a cannon story for Mass Effect. That would be your story if you started the game. The cool thing was though that if you had a Mass Effect save, you could haul over your character and continue with that.
So how are they going to handle this? Are they going to give us an option to chose how the story would have gone in the first game or the cannon story. Or do we start with the canon story altogether? Do we get to change up our character a bit beyond what could be done in the 360 version?
Another thing is how are they going to make the PS3 version attrictive? Meaning, how are they going to make the people who already have the 360 version buy the Trey version? Like what they do with most ports, what are they going to add?
Plus, are they going to include all of the add-ons? Or will we forced to buy them separately? Are they going to be added at all?
I’m expecting a lot from this game and I do hope that it comes true for us. Man, I seriously can’t wait for this one.
