What is Anon? Anon stands short for Anonymous. Originating on a message board called 4chan, Anon began as nothing more than a designation for the people that posted a comment without using a registered account. The standard name for these people was "Anonymous" followed by a number. And so they slowly started, like a seed that sprouts in to a plant. People banded together to form a group that would seek justice for those that were wronged or that would bring the lulz wherever it was waranted.
Anonymous is, as their name suggests, anonymous. They have no leaders, no headquarters, no anything. The only way they identify themselves is via a logo, an M.O. and a set of ideals. As previously seen with the Sony attacks, they do not harm consumers.
Once they realized that what they were doing affected innocent people, they backed off. But, that doesn't mean that when there are people waving the Anon flag whilst harming innocent people, they aren't Anon. Therein lies the problem.

The video above was posted on June 15th of 2011. Anonymous announced the beginning of their one year plan, simply entitled "The Plan."
This particular video announced the beginning of Phase One of their three phase plan. By the end of this plan, the world as we know it should have drastically changed.
"PHASE 1: Better yourself. Spread the message. Be the message."
A simple, yet very important part of their plan is to enlighten the people of the world. To have them open their eyes and see the system for what it truly is.
"*Educate yourself on the depths of the system, the functions put it place to inhibit true freedom as well as the mechanisms within the system that motivate the masses to subconsciously accept giving up those freedoms. The structures within the system that promote division within the people of the countries of this world and the injustices that are placed upon the people.
*Spread the message. Share this video and the website with everyone you can. Make your own videos, songs, art, graffiti etc... spreading the word that we are here, the movement is taking hold. Expect us.
*Learn ways that will allow you to break free from the system. Start small and implement them in your daily lives. This will be implemented as a focus of Phase 2 as well, escalating what you have learned.
*ANON hackers - begin supporting the movement. This is a calling to all of you for the aid of this movement. Low-priority targets are your engagement. Assist with the movement and spread the message of "The Plan".

As it stands, the first part of their plan is in fact a part that I myself stand behind. With the world as it is today, the people are too in the dark of what's really going. We have been living in this system for so long, that the majority of people either blindly go along with it or they don't even realize what's going on. Usually, the only time a change is implemented in the system, is when things make a turn for the worst.
Still, hacking and vandalizing is something I'm not a fan of in the slightest. If it weren't for Anonymous, we wouldn't have LulzSec out there, giving out passwords by the dozen or taking down government websites.
Even though this first part of the plan is admirable, I still get this sneaky suspicion that the excrement has yet to hit the fan. We'll just have to wait five more months to see what happens. It could all just be one big joke, who know?
