There are some actors, that when they make a specific genre of movie, get typecasted to hell. Take for example The Rock. A man best known to star in action flicks where the story is forgettable but where the mood is set to awesome. Like I said in an earlier tHop, action movies like in the old days are hard to come by these days. Although I have to say that The Rock is definitely trying. Welcome to the Jungle, Walking Tall, hell, even Doom falls in to that category. Point is, the man tries his best to give us some awesome action scenes. Another thing that can be said about this actor is that he tends to work with great and even the best actors in town for his action movies. Jungle has Walken, Doom has Karl Urban and Walking Tall has Neal McDonough. Even now the guy is teamed up with a great guy. Ladies and Gentlemen, it’s time to hop over the trailer for Faster!
The Trailer shows Dwayne Johnson as a man on revenge, hunting down those that harmed him in a cool car, cool jacket and lots of awesome sauce. Joining him in this movie is a man we have all come to know and love. A man who has starred in many amazing movies and who is an overall awesome actor: Billy Bob Thornton.
The trailer shows that this is going to be another one of those action movies that Dwayne is best known for. Mindless fun and cool action scenes with a plot here and here that may or may not be any good.
As far as everything else goes, it all looks okay. The camerawork hasn’t shown any quick cut scenes as of yet. So this means I’m hoping that this movie doesn’t do what Batman Begins did and make it a mess of a movie when it came to action scenes. The music was alright, setting a good mood for the clips we were shown.
Yeah, the trailer was alright. It definitely has me pumped to see this.
Luckily, the page where the trailer is shown gives away something more about the story. As the trailer definitely lacked that. Sure, it had some preaching guy in the beginning telling about revenge and about how it sucks and doesn’t go anywhere and yadayadayada … Anyhoo, the story is about a man named Driver who is sent to jail because of the bank robbery he pulled with his brother, who got killed there, and four other guys who were responsible for the man’s death. So, when Driver comes out of jail, he goes after these four in a quest for revenge. Followed by a police officer named Cop who wants to take him in, Driver is also faced with Killer, an assassin who sees a perfect opponent in him.
Now here’s a story I can get behind. It definitely has a lot of potential. The director has done several movies, but there’s only one I recognize. And oh boy is it a doozy. Men of Honor, a movie with Cuba Gooding Jr. and Robert DeNiro, was a great movie after all.
Lastly, there’s some other actors in this movie that I want to highlight. First there’s Tom Berenger, an all around good actor best known to me for his Sniper movies. Then there’s Moon Bloodgood, who I know from the show Journeyman. Oh and lastly some people from Lost. Namely Maggie Grace who played that annoying Shannon Chick and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje who played Mister Eko.
tl:dr - Billy Bob Thornton is in it. Go see it.
