Journey 2: The Mysterious Island

Photobucket

Back in 2008, Walden Studios released a movie based on a well known novel written by a grandmaster of concepts, Jules Verne. Journey to the center of the Earth was an adventure movie through and through, being more about the journey itself rather than the story. It was a fun movie and a sequel was definitely wanted.

Enter: Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. Our young heroes depart from Australia using oceanic flight 815 ... wait, wrong island... Euh, yeah. This movie is about the young hero of previous movie, Sean,  who received a radio message from his grandfather. Problem is that his grandfather is most likely stuck on the island that he has been looking for his entire life. The premise of these movies is a what if scenario. Meaning, what if the adventures in Jules Verne's books were actually real? So, what if his Mysterious Island was real as well?

The trailer showcases an adventure much like last time, albeit with only one recurring character. Though I am going to miss Brendan Fraser, I think that Dwayne Johnson will fill those shoes quite nicely. Plus, the loss of Fraser is even compensated some more with Michael Caine!
Returning for the part of Sean is Josh Hutcherson. And playing his love interest is Vanessa Hudgens. She is a part of a father-daughter tour, headed by the father, played by Luis Guzmán. Luis is one of those guys you might have seen in that one movie. For gamers, Luis played Ricardo Diaz in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.

It once again looks like a roller-coaster ride from start to finish. Can't wait to see the finished result.
